Our Hive-to-Home Installation Process
Designing a zone control system requires experienced technicians who understand duct static pressure, which is simply the "blood pressure" of your HVAC system. When motorized dampers close off airflow to unused rooms, air pressure inside your ducts increases.
If it gets too high, it can strain your blower motor, cause noisy vents, or damage your equipment. Our technicians design every system to maintain a balanced, safe airflow pressure, ensuring quiet operation and long-lasting performance:
- Comprehensive airflow assessment. We evaluate your home's layout, square footage, duct configuration, and the capacity of your heating/cooling equipment.
- Zone mapping. We work with you to establish logical comfort zones based on how your family uses the home (for example, Zone 1: main living area, Zone 2: upstairs bedrooms, Zone 3: bonus room or guest suite).
- Motorized damper installation. Precision motorized dampers are installed inside your ductwork, branching off to each zone. These open and close automatically in response to heating or cooling calls.
- Smart thermostat integration. We install independent thermostats for each zone and connect them to a central control panel that manages your HVAC system seamlessly.
- System calibration and static pressure testing. We calibrate airflow to ensure quiet operation and install bypass dampers as needed to protect your equipment from excessive backpressure.
